The Indian Journal of School and University Mental Health & Wellbeing (IJSUMHW) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research, policy, and practice in mental health and well-being across school and higher-education contexts in India and globally.
Our vision is to create India's leading interdisciplinary platform to advance the understanding of health and well-being in school and university education. The journal supports rigorous research, theoretical analysis, policy evaluation, and innovative interventions that address the unique challenges faced by Indian students, faculty, and institutions.
The journal fosters interdisciplinary dialogue among public health researchers, educational psychologists, policy analysts, medical professionals, social scientists, and institutional leaders to address the complex factors shaping well-being in India's education system. We encourage collaborative research that integrates clinical sciences, behavioural sciences, health policy, economics, and educational management to develop solutions tailored to the needs of students across India.
Through rigorous peer review and evidence-based scholarship, we aim to influence institutional practices, inform policy development, and support the creation of comprehensive wellness infrastructures in Indian education. We strive to be a key resource for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners seeking evidence-based strategies to foster supportive, inclusive environments where academic excellence and personal well-being are mutually reinforcing.
We invite research on mental health interventions, institutional wellness programs, the effectiveness of policy implementation, and scalable models adaptable to India's diverse socio-economic contexts. We also welcome contributions from various stakeholders to ensure a holistic perspective.
The journal is being funded by “Expressions India”'s National Life Skills, Values Education & School Wellness Program.
